For me, the horse show has never been just about ribbons or chasing points. It’s about the experience — the early mornings, the barn friendships, the adrenaline and that bone-deep exhaustion that somehow still feels magical.

Grooming is a huge part of that magic. It’s where the bond with your horse deepens. It’s the pride in rising to the occasion. It’s the behind-the-scenes hustle that being a ‘horse-girl’ is all about.

I spent my junior years in the hunter/jumper rings before working full-time as a professional groom across North America — including winter seasons at WEF in Wellington, Florida. I learned (sometimes the hard way) what actually works when it comes to juggling the demands of grooming and showing — especially when you’re doing it yourself.
