Grooming is expensive, and hiring a professional groom can cost $750 or more per week.
For many amateurs, this quickly adds up, eating into their show budget and limiting how many show they can afford. Learning to self-groom not only saves money but can also mean the difference between attending one show or several in a season.
Horse shows are overwhelming, and the pressure is real.
Between competition nerves, the chaos of the warm-up ring, and the stress of being watched and judged, amateurs already have a lot on their plate. Add in the full-time responsibility of managing a horse’s care at the show, and it’s easy to feel physically and mentally drained before you even step into the ring.
Grooming at a horse show isn’t the same as grooming at home—there’s more pressure, higher standards, and no room for error.
The details matter, the schedule is tight, and you’re juggling your horse’s needs while trying to get yourself ready. Without a plan, preparation, and the right knowledge, it’s easy to feel scattered and stressed.
There’s no “how-to” guide for horse show grooming—you’re expected to just figure it out.
Most amateurs learn through trial and error, making expensive (sometimes embarrassing) mistakes or struggling through years of frustration trying to balance competition and horse care. Without proper guidance, managing both can feel impossible.

I'm Ready!Groom School Was Made For You If You Are…
- Looking to save money: Your barn may offer full-service grooming but you want to stretch your horse show budget further by taking on the grooming responsibilities yourself. Professional grooming is expensive—you could fund an entire additional show with the savings you’ll gain by self-grooming.

Learn the essential skills, routines, and strategies to confidently manage your horse’s care, navigate the show environment, and set yourself up for success from day one.
- Already self-grooming: You might already be experienced with grooming at shows and are looking for new techniques, manage your time better, and reduce stress. Or maybe you’re simply passionate about improving the care you provide for yourself and your horse.
- A horse show parent: If you’re supporting a pony kid or junior rider, this course will help you learn alongside them, preparing you to provide top-notch care and support while empowering their independence.
- A coach: If you run a program, this course can help you teach and empower your students to uphold high standards of horsemanship, foster independence, and allow you to focus on coaching while knowing your clients are well-prepared.
Imagine how it would feel to:
Go from questioning everything to trusting your skills and enjoying the show experience.
Truly enjoy your first horse show, free from the anxiety of wondering what you might be missing.
Hey there, I'm Sarah
For me, the horse show isn’t about winning in every class or chasing points and titles. The horse show is an experience. It’s the atmosphere, the memory-making with barn friends and the thrill of competition.
Grooming is a part of that expereince; the early mornings, the bond I have with my horse and that deeply satisfying exhaustion at the end of the day that adds to the magic of showing.
I spent my junior years in the hunter/jumper rings before working as a professional groom, traveling full-time across North America, including winter seasons at WEF in Wellington, Florida. I learned—sometimes the hard way—what works (and what definitely doesn’t) when it comes to juggling the demands of show grooming while competing myself.
I built this course to take all of that knowledge and make it accessible to riders who want to take control of their own show experience—without the stress, the guesswork, or the feeling that you’re just figuring it out as you go.
If that sounds like you, you’re in the right place. Let’s get to work!
You're Just Seconds Away

Hiring a professional groom can cost hundreds per show—but learning these skills yourself? That’s a lifetime of savings.
